OX Sync App

OX Sync App was a native mobile phone app built specifically for smartphone users of Android, that also have a valid OX App Suite account. The app was designed to let users sync their OX App Suite Appointments, Tasks and Contacts environment directly from a native mobile phone client. The OX Sync App was designed specifically for ease-of-use and is available for Android only.

Please note: Development of the OX Sync app by Open-Xchange has ceased, and it will be removed from the app stores by end of December 2025. Open-Xchange will be working in the upcoming weeks to deliver a new and enhanced solution for seamless integration of Android mobile devices with OX App Suite.

OX App Suite v8.0

Please be aware that OX App Suite v8.0 already has the ability to be used as a progressive web application (PWA) on mobile devices, and even on desktops. It can be launched directly from the home screen. It also presents the user with design features that better match a mobile's form-factor and experience. This feature overcomes the requirement for an app like the OX Sync app.

CalDAV and CardDAV for Android with OX Sync and DAVx5

Our OX App Suite generations support the open synchronization standards for calendars (iCal) and contacts (vCard) through CalDAV and CardDAV. To support this standard on Android mobile devices, an additional component like DAVx5 is required. The app is an open-source tool for syncing calendars (CalDAV) and contacts (CardDAV) with Android smartphones. It is completely compatible with OX App Suite and provides reliable, background synchronization.

Installation of DAVx5 on your Mobile Device

You can download the app from the Google Play Store. Please proceed to download and install it on your Android mobile device.

OX App Suite Credentials

You can locate your access data for OX App Suite in the "Connect your device" wizard within the UI. This wizard is accessible through the submenu of the help icon found in the UI menu bar. It assists in configuring local apps to access your groupware data. The final page provides instructions for setting up groupware on a mobile device.

Configuration of DAVx5 with your OX App Suite Account

1. Open DAVx5 and tap on the "+" or "Add Account".
2. Select "Login with URL and Username".
3. Tap "Next" to check the connection.
4. After a successful connection, DAVx5 will display your available calendars and address books from OX App Suite.
5. Choose which ones you want to synchronize.
6. Confirm by tapping "Done" or "Synchronize".

Activate Synchronization

1. Access the account overview in DAVx5.
2. Ensure that calendar and contacts synchronization is enabled.
3. Optional: Set the synchronization frequency (e.g., every 30 minutes).
4. The synchronized OX App Suite calendars will automatically appear in OX Calendar.
5. Contacts can be found in OX Contacts. You may need to activate the DAVx5 account there.
