Open-Xchange Hosting Edition and Server Edition are designed to integrate into existing IT infrastructures, where, for example, the use of proven e-mail and management services can be continued. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition enables web-hosting companies, ISPs, telecommunication companies and IT service companies to gradually expand their product range by modular SaaS offerings.
The Open-Xchange Server Edition is aimed at mid-size companies, businesses, educational institutions and public administrations, which are looking for a communications solution that is tailored to their individual needs.
Open-Xchange Server Edition for Univention Corporate Server (OX SE 4 UCS) is based on the standard OX SE packages plus additional packages for the integration into UCS. This means, that all OX SE documentation is valid as well. The additional components for integration into UCS are described in the separate OX SE 4 UCS documentation.

Installing the latest Updates

The Open-Xchange Updater is a software tool by Open-Xchange that installs the latest version of Open-Xchange client software on computers running Windows. The Updater automatically informs users of new updates of e.g. the Open-Xchange OXtender for Microsoft Outlook.

Open-Xchange Community Edition differs from other Open-Xchange editions in not being supported by Open-Xchange. It has the very same functionality like all other editions and shares the same code base.
When you choose to install packages for one of the maintained platforms as listed below, you can later buy maintenance and a support contract without migrating any data.
Products like OXtender for MS Outlook and OXtender for Mac OS can only be purchased and supported in combination with a maintenance contract and thus only with products like HE, SE, SE for UCS or AE.
