PowerDNS Recursor

The PowerDNS Recursor platform is a high-end, high-performance resolving name server, which powers the DNS resolution of at least a hundred million subscribers.

DNS answers can be fully scripted using a variety of (scripting) languages like for example Lua, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, C and C++. Such scripting can be used for dynamic redirection, (spam)filtering or real time intervention.

The platform comes with the DNSDist loadbalancer. The DNSdist loadbalancer is a highly DNS-, DoS- and abuse-aware loadbalancer. DNSdist allows for a PowerDNS platform architecture that is highly redundant.
